How many people do you know who can say that their childhood was filled with love and security? I can … and I know how lucky I am. Most people call me Tunie. I am fifty-three years old and have been blessed to live all of those years in close proximity to my parents. When my husband and I started dating, one of the first things he said to me was that he would never want to separate me from my parents. So when I moved from Savannah to Dallas to marry him, so did my parents … and two dogs and two cats. In these last 10 years, I have often remarked that I had no idea that this phase of life would be so painful. They have endured surgeries, pain, loss of eyesight, loss of hearing … and together we have cried and laughed – and, more than anything, loved. It is this journey that I share.
